Chef/Short Order Cook at Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary!

Are you a culinary whizz with a passion for food and wildlife?

Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is searching for a dedicated Chef/Short Order Cook to lead our café and kitchen operations, contributing to an unforgettable experience for visitors and supporting the conservation of Australian wildlife.

The Role

As our Chef/Short Order Cook, you’ll oversee the daily operation of our café and kitchen, ensuring exceptional customer service, cost control, and a tempting array of fresh and tasty menu items. From managing inventory to leading a small team, your work will directly contribute to the Sanctuary’s mission while delighting visitors with quality food experiences. 

-       Oversee the café’s day-to-day operations, maximising sales and minimising costs. 

-       Manage inventory, source seasonal foods, and collaborate on recipe development. 

-       Lead a small team, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and delivering a high level of customer service. 

-       Handle event catering, including menu planning and on-time delivery. 

-       Ensure compliance with WHS and food safety standards. 

 

About You

Do you have?

-       3+ years of experience in café, restaurant, or catering operations. 

-       Event catering expertise, including menu planning and costing. 

-       Strong leadership, multitasking, and customer service skills. 

-       High motivation, initiative, and a commitment to quality food and safety. 

-       NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Working With Children Check.
