At The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, we have a host of incredible animals that captivate the hearts and minds of our visitors, but few are as enchanting as Socrates, our resident Barn Owl. As one of the stars of our Free Flight Bird Show, Socrates dazzles audiences with his graceful flight and impressive skills. Beyond the shows, guests can also book a special owl experience to learn how to handle and fly Socrates, creating unforgettable memories as he perches on their gloved hands.

Socrates: The Star of Our Sanctuary

Socrates isn't just any Barn Owl—he’s a true ambassador for his species. His performances in our Free Flight Bird Show highlight the unique adaptations that make owls such fascinating creatures.
