The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is a family-friendly destination with something for everyone. Open from 9am-4pm we have a comprehensive daily program of Keeper talks and interactive activities.
The Free Flight Birds every day at 12:15 is a special experience not to be missed.
The Sanctuary is home to more than 100 incredible Australian wildlife animals, including kangaroos, a fabulous array of birds and reptiles including snakes and crocodiles, plus our resident personalities Manda the wombat and Arnie the koala. We have bunnies and guinea pigs and a Chick House with lots of baby chicks that can be handled.
We also offer a range of wildlife encounters that allow visitors to experience these beautiful animals up close.
Take a break and play the 18 hole golf course, splash in the waterpark or have fun in the tree house playground.
Stay for a meal and enjoy snacks or lunch from the Sanctuary café. With a delicious selection of fresh food made from locally produced goodness, we cater for all dietary requirements. You can always bring your own picnic and make use of our free gas barbecue facilities.
Breakfast is served from 9am , so start your day with a barista made coffee and our amazing wildlife.

Daily Pass
Our daily pass provides admission for one day to the the Wildlife Sanctuary.
Your pass includes a whole day of activities including keeper talks and wildlife experiences.
Tickets are valid for any day from 9am to 4pm. We’re open every day except Christmas Day.

Meet Manda the Wombat
Due to government restrictions we are not able to offer our Nocturnal Theatre as part of our daily Activity Schedule. We hope to be able to include this in our schedule again soon.

Free Flight Birds
We are very proud of our free flight birds. It is one of the best shows in the country and not to be missed when visiting the Sanctuary. Our Keepers are extremely knowledgeable and you can learn lots of fascinating facts as well as conservation tips. Located in the shade of our Pond Stage you can meet Socrates the barn owl, a bush stoned curlew, kookaburra, galah, red-tailed black cockatoo and of course the speedy rainbow lorikeets who are soon to be joined by a Major Mitchell cockatoo! 12.15pm daily.
Mini Golf & Waterplay
No trip to the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is complete without a round of mini golf. Challenge your family to a round at our fun-filled 18 hole course. Our course has been designed to ensure players of all ages and varying skill can play, and we provide everything you need including clubs, balls and score cards. Our course is also a great group activity and an ideal venue for parties and functions. You can bring along a picnic and BYO drinks to enjoy an afternoon in our shaded BBQ area next to the course while you play. Best of all it’s free with entry to the Sanctuary!
Kids Playground
There's something fun for all ages at the Sanctuary, including the kids, with our playground. The toddler playground next to the mini-golf is perfect for the under 5's, with sandpit and age-appropriate slides.
BBQ Area
Bring your own picnic and make use of our free gas barbecue facilities and enjoy your lunch in our outdoor covered BBQ Area. This area is available for special events and parties so please contact the events team on [email protected] if you would like to reserve this area for your special occasion. The area can seat 64 guests or 100 cocktail style.
Gift Shop
Discover our local gifts, fine foods and fresh macadamia nuts available in-store or online at the Sanctuary. With a great selection of gift items, sourced from iconic brands such as Australian Geographic, we focus on educational, locally produced, ethically sourced and sustainable offerings. Gifts for all occasions and age groups can be found in the Sanctuary shop, from educational games and activities, fun souvenirs, beautiful books and everyone's favourite - plush wildlife animals!
Café
Sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious meal or tasty treat in the Sanctuary Café. Available from 8am daily for baked goods and coffee, and 9am for a cooked meal, our seasonally inspired menu is bursting with locally produced fresh flavours for you to dine in, or take away! Our Café produces fresh food using locally-sourced ingredients. We believe in showcasing our region’s finest fare. We sell hearty favourites including all-day breakfasts, burgers, salads and special kids meals. We also have homemade cakes and barista coffee. Whilst we cannot guarantee an allergen free kitchen, we can offer a range of dietary requirements. Complete your experience with a refreshing beverage from our licensed bar.
