Help us shine a light on the importance native wildlife and conservation this THREATENED SPECIES DAY ON THE 7TH OF SEPTEMBER at The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

Get ready! This is an exciting opportunity to share your love of wildlife and help promote wildlife conservation. The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a Kids Competition as part of ‘Threatened Species Day’ on September 7th at The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. ⁠

Shortlisted participants will have their artworks on display on Threatened Species Day and have the opportunity to perform their poetry/stories in front of the judges, guests and visitors before we announce the winners! Up on offer are some incredible prizes for the winners and schools who enter. ⁠

  • The competition is open to children aged 3-12 years.
  • Submissions can be made from individuals or as a school group, community group, home school group.
  • All entries must include an entry form filled in on behalf of the school or individual. 
  • Written entries must not exceed 200 words.
  • 2D Art Entries must not be larger than A3.
  • 3D Artworks must not be larger than 60×60 cm.
  • If a child is chosen as a finalist and is not comfortable reading their work, the school or a parent may represent them and read their work on the presentation day.
  • Artwork Finalists will have their pieces on display at The Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on the 7th of September as part of the event for Threatened Species Day. Artworks need to be delivered to the Sanctuary the week prior.
  • All judging decisions both in selecting finalists and winners are final.
  • All works should be original and respond to the theme of Threatened Species. See the application form for suggestions about speaking to your class about the topic and inspiring their writing/artwork.
